Delta PDP mourns the Loss of Chief Joe Unuame, His Driver.

DELTA State Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, expressed deep sorrow this morning over the sudden passing of Chief Joe Unuame and his driver, who tragically lost their lives in a devastating car accident while en route to a campaign rally for the party in Patani, Patani Local Government Area of the State.

Chief Unuame, a native of Akpere-Olomu community in Ughelli South Council of Delta State, a prominent figure and cherished stalwart of the party, met an untimely and heart-wrenching end when his SUV reportedly had a head-on collision with a tanker near Umeh junction along Ughelli/Patani axis of East-West road.

It was learnt his driver died on the spot, while Unuame died in a hospital, where he was rushed to.

The news of Umuame’s death caused an uproar at the rally ground in Patani this morning.

In a statement issued by its State Publicity Secretary and Deputy Director of Media and Publicity for its Campaign Council, Dr. Ifeanyi Osuoza, the PDP conveyed its profound sadness.

“It is with heavy hearts and deep sorrow that we received the tragic news of the sudden demise of our friend, brother, and one of the solid pillars of the PDP in Delta State, Chief Joe Unuame. He was involved in a fatal motor accident that claimed his life and that of his driver while they were en route to our campaign rally in Patani, Delta State,” the statement read.

“Chief Unuame, a native of the Akpere-Olomu community in Olomu Kingdom, Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State, was a beloved party stalwart in Delta Central. He was a renowned grassroots mobilizer who wholeheartedly supported Governor Ifeanyi Okowa’s Vice-Presidential bid, the Governorship candidacy of Rt. Hon. Sheriff Francis Orohwedor Oborevwori, Sir Monday Onyeme, and all the PDP Candidates for the 2023 general elections.

“This sudden and unexpected tragedy has not only plunged us into grief and mourning but has also left us in shock, especially at this critical time when his enthusiastic presence and vibrant personality would have been invaluable to our efforts as we enter the final stages of our comprehensive campaigns to secure victory in the 2023 elections.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the departed, and we beseech God Almighty to grant them the strength and courage to bear the immense loss. We fervently pray that such calamities will not befall the extended political family of Delta State again.

“May the gentle soul of Chief Joe Unuame, and the souls of the dearly departed, rest in eternal peace, Amen.”
