The Great Men with the Solution to the Crisis in Nigeria

On January 1, 2012, the former President of Nigeria, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, announced his government’s decision to remove fuel subsidies.

And by January 6, protests had taken place in almost every major Nigerian city.

Protesters demonstrated in central areas of the cities, and they focused on their support for the fuel subsidy and anger at government corruption.

Two years later, on the night of 14 and 15 April 2014, to be precise, 276 mostly Christian female students aged 16 and 18 were kidnapped by the Islamic terrorist group, Boko Haram, from the Government Girls Secondary School at Chibok, Borno State.

When it was time for Nigeria’s next general election in 2015, critics of President Jonathan and members of the opposition parties, especially those from the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, decided to use the attempted removal of fuel subsidies, the kidnapping of Chibok girls, and a few other isolated cases against President Jonathan.

They magnified those situations and made President Jonathan look as if he was too weak to preside over Nigeria and unfit to remain as the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Fortunately for them, they succeeded in removing President Jonathan from office, even when he constitutionally had four more years to serve as the President of Nigeria.

When the new government headed by President Mohammadu Buhari took over office from Dr. Jonathan, he and members of his party promised Nigerians heaven and earth.

Among the things they promised Nigerians under their ‘Change’ mantra, were:

  1. Better economy with plenty of employment, and a situation where the Nigerian currency, the naira would almost be at par with the United States dollar;
  2. Quality education;
  3. Good healthcare delivery;
  4. Extermination of corruption; and
  5. Security of lives and properties.

All Progressives Congress failed promises

It is pathetic to announce to you that none of these promises has been fulfilled, after more than seven years of being in power.

All Progressives Congress failed promises.

Rather than providing Nigerians with a better economy, they gave Nigerians an economy where prices are at the rooftop, with many Nigerians begging to feed themselves.

At the time they came into power, the exchange rate between the Nigerian naira and the American dollar was a little above N300 to the American dollar, but today Nigerian naira exchanges for as high as N700 to a dollar.

Education, which is said to be the bedrock of the development of any country is highly neglected under the present administration.

There’s almost no time in the lives of past governments in Nigeria, since 1979, when university lecturers did not go on strike, for one reason or the other.

However, it has never been bad as it is under the government of President Buhari, as a 4-year course now takes between six and seven years because of what seems to be irreconcilable differences between the present government in Nigeria and Nigerian university lecturers.

The reason President Buhari and his deputy, the later Brigadier Tunde Idiagbon gave for sacking the democratically elected government of Aljahi Shehu Shagari on December 31, 1983, was that most Nigerian hospitals had turned into ‘mere consulting clinics.’

Ironically, that is exactly what hospitals in Nigeria have turned into since 2015.  Consequently, more and more Nigerian medical doctors leave Nigeria on a daily basis for greener pastures overseas.

Most Nigerians who voted for President Buhari in 2015 did not because they thought he had the capacity to tackle corruption in Nigeria.

But today, corruption has become the order of the day, especially among elected and appointed officials of government who embezzle public funds with impunity and convert the lure of the office into personal use.

The most laughable promise of the government of President Buhari is in the area of security.

He promised to do better than his predecessor, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, but today, Nigerians know better.

For example, one of the reasons President Buhari and his aides condemned the government of President Jonathan was that President Jonathan’s weakness led to the kidnapping of the Chibok girls.

But today, kidnapping has turned into a full-time business for some people in Nigeria, who collect millions of naira and foreign currencies as ransom.

Which one will I say and which one should I leave?

The so-called ‘change’ that the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, promised Nigerians have turned to destruction and a curse.

As a result of their colossal failure, no member of the APC or their supporters is now comfortable saying or shouting ‘C-H-A-N-G-E!’ which was the mantra they used to deceive Nigeria in 2015.

Anybody who associates ‘change’ with APC in any part of Nigeria, including in the Northern part of Nigeria, where President Buhari comes risks being lynched because ‘change’ has become a stigma in all parts of Nigeria.

The Great Men with the Solution to the Crisis in Nigeria.

But rejoice for survival is around the corner.

The main opposition party in Nigeria, the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, is set to rescue Nigerians from the crisis inflicted upon them by APC.

Two great men of vision, integrity, intelligence, and energy have been chosen to lead the rescue team.

They are Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, who’s the presidential flagbearer of the party, and his vice-presidential candidate, Senator (Dr.) Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa.

These men need no introduction to the Nigerian political terrain.

The neutral number search engine in the world, Google, will be willing to give you an honest assessment of each of them, in case you think otherwise.

The combination of the vast political and business experiences of these men is what Nigeria and Nigerians need to come out of the doldrums.

So, vote for the men who have the solution to Nigeria’s problems.

Vote for the Atiku-Okowa combination to make Nigeria better again.

With Atiku and Okowa, Nigeria is sure to rise again!

The Great Men with the Solution to the Crisis in Nigeria. THE END.
